Here are some practical tips to make life easier in your new home:
1.Plan ahead.
If you want to move on a specific date, it is a very good idea to plan your timeline in advance. You need time to finalise your quote, check our availability and book the date you want. We are very flexible, but some periods are busier than others. Planning ahead guarantees the day or days you want for your move.
2. Get rid of anything you don’t need.
When we go through our things before moving, we often find items we haven’t used for ages or had forgotten we even owned. The best thing is to get rid of them. If you didn’t use them before, now is a good time to throw them away or donate them, because you won’t use them in the future either.
Keep what you need and make your move easier and more practical.
3. Keep your important items organised.
Where did I put my keys? Where did I leave my documents?
This can cause unnecessary stress, and it is very easy to avoid. Set aside and organise your important papers, keys, personal documents and so on as a priority, and keep track of where they are and how they are labelled.
4. When you pack, label each box with its contents and the room it belongs in.
It is simple and practical. On each box of belongings, books, clothes and so on, just write the room it goes to and a note of what is inside. You will see how much faster and easier everything is.
One more tip: pack heavy items in smaller boxes so they are easier to carry.
5. Plan where your furniture and belongings will go in your new home.
This can be a fun task and an exciting project full of new possibilities. Planning also helps you avoid mistakes and awkward situations, and knowing exactly where your things and furniture will go saves time too.
6. Let all your contacts know your new address.
Not just your friends and family: remember to update your address for utility bills, register at the local council (empadronamiento) and your new health centre, and so on. You can make a list of contacts and tasks to complete before moving into your new home and neighbourhood.
Get all this paperwork right and that is one less thing to worry about.
